History Of Sonic Games

Sonic the Hedgehog was developed by SEGA in 1991 as the new mascot for the company and has been globally recognized all over the world ever since. So, a person who's never played Sonic Games before might wonder who the character really is.

Sonic is a blue Hedgehog who lives happily in a place called "South Island" with all his other animal friends until the day comes when he's being introduced to Dr Robotnik also known as Eggman. Dr Robotnik is an evil man who is seeking the "Chaos Emeralds" in order to turn all animals into robots to serve him for eternity. Sonic and his friends decide it's time to stop Dr Robotnik's evil plan and they try to find all the "Chaos Emeralds" themselves while they are getting closer and closer to Dr Robotniks nest.

On their way to reach justice they will be faced with many dangerous obstacles but Sonic the Hedgehog has a few super powers that will come in handy in these situations. He can for example run faster than the speed of sound and when he achieves great speed he can start rolling like a ball and destroy his enemies in this manner. The most important element in a Sonic Game is the collecting of gold ring. When physical contact occurs between Sonic and the enemies the rings will work as a shield and therefore stop Sonic from getting injured.

Sonic started off in the gaming world but his fame brought on other types of media interest as well. In 1993 Sonic had his first TV-series made, based on his character which made him more alive than ever. Before, we knew very little about how he was as a Hedgehog other than that he was "good" and Dr Robotnik was "evil". With a TV-series featuring Sonic we got to know his very individual characteristics. Who would have thought that Sonic was a devious, streetwise, cheeky little Hedgehog who in dangerous situations becomes selfless and brave?

In the series we also get properly introduced to his closest friends, you might recognize names like Miles Prower also known as "Tails", Bunnie Rabbot who got saved from a robot transformation the second before it was too late, which now shows in form of a robotic arm and last but not least Sonic's love, Sally Acorn who is famous for being the clever one out of the group.

Other than games and TV-series there has also been comics and a movie making Sonic the most famous Hedgehog in the world.
